Extra Credit Opportunity: Guest Speaker, Dr. Mark Fillmore

University of Kentucky Professor Dr. Mark Fillmore is coming to Henry Clay to speak to psychology students about his current research on alcohol's disinhibition effects.

His talk will focus on his research on alcohol effects on human behavior with a focus on impaired driving. He will explain how personality characteristics, such as impulsivity, lead to reckless driving in young adults and how impulsive drivers are more vulnerable to the disruptive effects of alcohol. Topics covered will include: substance abuse, ADD/ADHD, impaired driving, impulsivity and alcohol tolerance. In general his talk will inform students about what psychologists can teach us about why people drink and drive and how we can develop better treatment and prevention programs.

Who is invited: All psychology students at Henry Clay
When: Thursday, March 1st (3:30-4:30)
Where: Henry Clay Theatre
Why: Get a feel for what a college level lecture is like, meet a well respected professor, review material relevant to the AP Psychology exam, and earn a little extra credit for yourself.
